Christina Jensen began her life-long love affair with the arts when she first appeared on stage as Mouse/Guest in a production of The Nutcracker. As
“But now God has arranged the parts, each one of them in the body, just as He desired. If they were all one part, where would the body be? But now there are many parts, but one body.”
Throughout this week-long course, students will explore the various musical influences on musical theater. Musical styles such as classical, jazz, and contemporary will be among the many “flavors” of musical theater students will study.
Monday-Friday, students will learn general vocal techniques and theater skills. They will also work on appropriate repertoire. Their work will culminate on Saturday in an informal performance highlighting the skills they have learned.
Each weekday will be divided up into two sections, with a small break in between, as shown below.
9-10:30 am | Students will work with voice teacher, Celeste Tavera, on singing and music. |
10:30-10:40 am | Break (students need to bring their own snack from home) |
10:40 am – 12 pm | Students will work with stage director, Christina Jensen, on theater skills and staging. |
Saturday is performance day and the schedule is shown below.
9-11 am | Rehearsal |
11:30 am- 12 pm | Performance |
12-1 pm | Simple reception |
